Background[]
Located within the center of the Adept Mainland, which is the most densely populated, unlike the other three major Adept forces, the Zhantarim Association didn’t have a clear direction of development or core bond between its members. It was more like a consortium of Adept families. Actually, it had something to do with how Adept forces were distributed in the center of the Adept Mainland.
The center region of Adept Mainland was a vast land with abundant resources, but the human colonies here were scattered. Each human colony was a small kingdom, usually guarded by at least one Adept family. Therefore, the center region was made up by many Adept Families. In order to counter the invasion from all three major Adept forces toward the center region, Adept families of all sizes had grouped together and formed the Zhentarim Association, combining their might to ensure they maintained their place in the world.
Due to the loose nature of the association and the vast amount of opportunity, the Association became the main choice of adepts who wish for freedom and as such it actually exceeds the other 3 Adept Forces in terms of Adepts Grade 1-3. But due to that loose nature, lack of strict regulations and a lack of inheritance it is vastly inferior to the other organizations in terms of Grades 4 and up and only has 1 confirmed Adept at a higher Grade.
But they do have a few strict regulations, such as: No Adept may attempt kill another adept of the same grade without good cause, No Adept of a higher grade may strike an Adept of a lower grade unless they make a move first, the family/clan can be held responsible for the rules broken by the adepts contracted to them even if the adept was killed in self defense and the clan can prove the adept's actions had nothing to do with the clan.
According to the annals of the Adept Mainland, the Zhentarim Association controlled thirty-one regions. The smallest region covered 700,000-800,000 square kilometers, while the largest occupied more than a million square kilometers. It was a boundless area rich in resources. These areas contained 60% of the entire Adept Mainland’s population.

The highest grade Adepts on duty were Fourth Grade Adepts. As for all the higher graded Adepts, rumors said they had left the Adept World, to explore and conquer worlds in the vast ocean of stars.

Trivia[]
- The Zhentarim Association is centered around the partnership of Mirva and Fred, those two Fourth Grades form the core of cooperation between the rest of the families.
- During Age of Adepts, Greem and Mary becoming Fourth Grade became problematic because it was known that they were lovers(able to fight and die together as companions) and that upset the balance of power and thus leads to a civil war within the Zhentarim Association.
- At least half of the top families including (Dener, Fabres, Gaia ,Entom ,Bane , Jorma, and Annemdo) participated in attempting to suppress the growing Crimson Family.
- Most of the top families would become subordinate the Horton Magic Institute led by the Crimson Family.
- During the Civil War, hundreds to thousands of adepts and an uncountable number of apprentice adepts would die. There were even several Third Grade casualties.
- During the Civil War, there were hundreds of thousands of cannon fodder(otherwordly subordinate troops, magic machines, undead, voodoo beasts) that were deployed.
- Other than a few exceptional individuals, the Fourth Grades of Zhentarim are very weak compared to the Fourth Grades of any of the three great adept organizations.
- Besides Greem, only Monash and Fred could actually be considered a threat against the Fourth Grades of the three great adept organizations.Eventually, Mary and Bilis would be added onto that list.
